Thistle Wind Partners Submits Planning Application for Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland
Thistle Wind Partners has submitted a planning permission application for the Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm, located 44 km off Stonehaven, North East Scotland. The application includes infrastructure elements such as the landfall near Benholm, underground cable corridor, and an onshore substation connecting to the Hurlie substation at Fetteresso Forest for National Grid integration.
This follows a comprehensive optioneering exercise, Environmental Impact Assessment, and community consultations. Additionally, an operations and maintenance base will be established in North East Scotland, with an investment of USD$479.6 million (£360m) and approximately 60 long-term jobs.
Once operational, the wind farm is expected to power over one million homes. The offshore consent submission is scheduled for 2026. The project includes a Supply Chain Pathways Programme to enable local firms to compete for contracts, with 60 companies involved to date.
