Torngat Metals Delays Strange Lake Rare Earths Project Production Start to 2029-2030
STRATEGIC MINERALS
Torngat Metals has delayed the start of rare earth production at its $2 billion Strange Lake project in northern Quebec to 2029-2030 due to permitting issues. The company plans to release a bankable feasibility study in 2026 and complete environmental assessments by year-end, while negotiating with six First Nations for community approvals and equity stakes. With $165 million in loans secured and potential funding from the Canada Infrastructure Bank, Torngat aims to become a significant player in North America's rare earth supply chain.
