TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy have commenced construction on significant projects in Iraq, including the Common Seawater Supply Project (CSSP) and the redevelopment of the Ratawi oil field. These initiatives are part of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP), aimed at enhancing Iraq's energy independence and sustainability.

The CSSP will treat and transport seawater to oil fields, reducing freshwater usage, while the Ratawi redevelopment aims to increase oil production and process associated gas for local power generation. The projects are expected to employ 7,000 Iraqi nationals during construction.
