Toyota has launched a pilot program in Texas to explore vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging technology in collaboration with Oncor and Fermata Energy. The initiative, which began in 2022, aims to stabilize the electrical grid during peak demand, provide backup power during outages, and reduce costs for customers by leveraging off-peak energy storage. Similar programs are also being conducted in San Diego and Maryland, with participation from local utilities to assess the economic and environmental benefits of connected vehicles.
