As part of its strategic transformation plan, Tüpra is spearheading the Sunfusion project, aimed at developing biofuels from sustainable sources. Supported by the European Commission's Horizon Europe program, the initiative will utilize hydrothermal liquefaction to convert microalgae and yeasts into biofuel, harnessing solar energy for the process.

The four-year project, commencing in January 2025, comprises ten partners from Turkey and Europe. Tüpra plans to enhance the bio-oil generated in the latter part of the project, aligning with its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
