TÜV Rheinland has been appointed as a Notified Body under the new EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542, effective February 2024, which replaces the previous Battery Directive. This designation allows TÜV Rheinland to support global manufacturers in compliance, testing, and conformity assessments throughout the battery lifecycle, enforcing stringent requirements on safety, sustainability, and responsible sourcing of materials like cobalt and nickel by August 2027. Manufacturers are required to engage accredited bodies for independent assessments to meet these new obligations.
