The UK's Green Tea project aims to convert tea waste from Kenya into clean energy and fertilizer, addressing the challenges faced by over 600,000 smallholder farmers affected by climate change. Piloted at Browns Plantation in Kericho, the initiative utilizes technology from Compact Syngas Solutions to produce synthesis gas and biochar, reducing carbon emissions and enhancing soil health. Supported by Innovate UK's energy catalyst program and the UN Industrial Development Organisation, the project seeks to improve livelihoods and sustainability in the Kenyan tea sector.
