The University of Freiburg is initiating the CircEL project to explore a circular economy, funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation with three million euros over six years. This interdisciplinary research will assess legal and engineering frameworks needed to enhance sustainability through improved recycling and product design. The initiative aims to bridge gaps between legal requirements and practical implementation, fostering cooperation between engineering and law faculties and creating opportunities for doctoral and postdoctoral research.
