NUCLEAR

The University of Manchester has been awarded over £17 million to lead a five-year project aimed at developing sustainable graphite production and recycling methods for nuclear reactors. The initiative, titled ENLIGHT, seeks to establish a local supply chain in the UK, reducing reliance on international imports and contributing to the country's net-zero goals. Collaborating with Oxford, Plymouth, and Loughborough universities, the program will address the challenges of irradiated graphite waste and enhance energy security while promoting cleaner energy solutions.
