U.S. Partners with Nouveau Monde Graphite for Canadian Mine to Reduce Dependence on Chinese Metals

The U.S. government is investing $240 million in Nouveau Monde Graphite (NMG) to support the development of a mine in Saint-Michel-des-Saints by 2029 and a processing plant in Bécancour. The Canadian government has also committed nearly $600 million, alongside $650 million from unidentified private investors. NMG will supply 30,000 tons of concentrated graphite annually, with half for Canada and the rest for G7 and NATO allies, including the U.S.
