Uzbekistan Advances Energy Sector Transformation with $35 Billion Investment

Uzbekistan's energy sector underwent a significant transformation with over $35 billion in foreign investment, adding approximately 9,000 MW of new capacity by 2025. Electricity generation increased from 60 billion kWh in 2017 to around 85 billion kWh, with renewable sources contributing 30% of total capacity. The government aims for 26% of its energy generation to come from renewables by 2025 and 40% by 2030, alongside the construction of its first nuclear power plant.
