Venture Waste-to-Energy Project in Dharan Ceases Operations Due to Lack of Government Support

BIOFUELS

The Venture Waste-to-Energy project in Dharan has halted operations just months after its inauguration due to a lack of government support and unclear regulations regarding gas sales. Despite an investment of Rs. 240 million and a Rs. 70 million subsidy, the facility, which aimed to convert the city's waste into biogas and organic fertilizer, faced closure after four months of inactivity. Currently, Dharan's daily waste of 45 to 50 tonnes is being dumped near the Seuti River, highlighting the urgent need for policy formulation to support waste management initiatives.
