Victoria Sugar Limited (VSL) is enhancing its sugar production and renewable energy initiatives in Uganda, currently processing 3,000 tonnes of sugarcane daily and generating 15 megawatts of electricity from bagasse. With an investment of approximately US$150 million, VSL has expanded its land holdings in Kiryandongo District and plans to increase its energy output by an additional 3 megawatts from biogas by December 2025. This expansion not only boosts domestic food security but also promotes job creation and industrialization in the region.
