Vietnam has revised its Power Development Plan VIII, increasing the target for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) from 300 MW to between 10,000 MW and 16,300 MW by 2030, as part of its strategy to enhance renewable energy integration. The updated plan also boosts renewable energy capacity forecasts, including onshore and nearshore wind to 26,066 MW to 38,029 MW and solar power to between 46,459 MW and 73,416 MW. The government aims to stabilize the grid and manage peak demand through significant investments in BESS alongside other renewable projects.
