Vietnam's accession to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) was announced during a meeting on December 15 between Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and IRENA representatives in Hanoi. This membership is expected to enhance Vietnam's international energy sector integration, facilitate policy exchanges, and provide access to vital databases and technical support for energy planning and renewable energy development.

IRENA representatives acknowledged Vietnam's strong energy policies, particularly in renewable energy. The partnership will enable Vietnam to connect with international financial institutions and investors, fostering investment in renewable and new energy projects, including offshore wind, solar power, green hydrogen, and energy storage solutions.
