Voltalia Begins Construction of 43 MW Solar Hybrid Power Plant in Sainte-Anne, French Guiana
Voltalia has commenced site preparation for a hybrid power plant in Sainte-Anne, French Guiana, with a photovoltaic capacity of 43 megawatts and a battery storage capacity of 135 megawatt-hours. The facility will combine solar energy, storage, and biofuel to meet the increasing electricity demand in western French Guiana.
It is expected to produce approximately 50 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, serving about 50,000 people and preventing 45,300 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Construction began in late July and is projected to continue for three years, with commissioning scheduled for 2028. The project aligns with the region's Multi-Year Energy Program and is strategically located for grid connection.
