Voltwise Power has secured £153.9 million to acquire a 460MW battery energy storage system portfolio from Smart Metering Systems, which includes seven operational assets and four in development. The acquisition, completed in June 2025, signifies strong lender confidence in the UK battery energy storage sector, despite previous concerns regarding Ofgem's energy storage scheme. Santander CIB advised on the transaction, with NatWest, Kommunalkredit, and Siemens Financial Services participating in the syndication.
