West Bengal to Install Biogas Plants at Tribal Schools for Cooking Gas

BIOFUELS

The West Bengal government plans to install biogas plants at residential schools for tribal students in six districts. The project aims to use organic waste from campuses to produce cooking gas, reducing reliance on conventional fuels and addressing waste disposal.

Each site will be assessed to determine the necessary biogas plant size, and the project is estimated to cost over Rs 15 lakh. Maintenance support will be included to ensure functionality. Completion is expected within four months, with potential expansion to other institutions based on performance.
