Wild Hydrogen Launches £1.4M Innovate UK Project for Carbon-Negative Hydrogen Development
Wild Hydrogen has initiated an 18-month, £1.4 million project under the Innovate UK Investor Partnerships programme, supported by Cambridge Angels. This project aims to advance the RiPR platform from a TRL 6 prototype to a commercial-scale system, contributing to the production of carbon-negative hydrogen and biomethane.
The RiPR technology uses supercritical water to convert waste into hydrogen, biomethane, biochar, and carbon dioxide without requiring costly pre-treatment or high electricity consumption. Key developments will include a high-pressure feedstock loading mechanism, a closed-loop energy recovery system, and a Pre-FEED package for commercial-scale deployment. This initiative builds on a previous £350,000 Innovate UK Smart Grant awarded in 2025, reflecting growing confidence in the company's decarbonization efforts.
