Wärtsilä Constructs 50 MW / 100 MWh Energy Storage System for Grid Stability in Belgium

Wärtsilä has commenced construction of a 50 MW / 100 MWh battery energy storage system for Gramme Storage 1 in Belgium. This project aims to enhance the stability and sustainability of Belgium's energy grid and is expected to be completed by Q2 2027. The order was booked in Q2 2025, marking Wärtsilä's first energy storage initiative under Belgium's Capacity Remuneration Mechanism.
