Yara and Air Products Plan Ammonia Projects in the USA and Saudi Arabia
Yara and Air Products are in advanced negotiations for a partnership on two low-emission ammonia production projects in the USA and Saudi Arabia. The first project is the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, aimed at producing over 21 million m³/day of hydrogen, with Yara planning to use about 80% for around 2.8 million tons per year of low-emission ammonia.
The project aims to capture approximately 95% of the CO2 produced, with a third party set to store 5 million tons per year under a future contract. Final investment decisions are expected by mid-2026, with construction completion anticipated by 2030. The second project is the Neom Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia, over 90% complete and scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2027, producing up to 1.2 million tons of renewable ammonia annually, with plans for a marketing agreement for any unsold ammonia to be marketed as hydrogen in Europe.
