BIOFUELS

Convertus Group has secured all necessary permits to begin construction of a biofuel plant in York Region, which will convert curbside green bin waste into fertilizer and renewable natural gas. Located near the materials recovery plant in East Gwillimbury, the facility is expected to process up to 200,000 tonnes of waste annually and commence operations by 2027. The initiative aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide a sustainable waste management solution, with projections of heating 5,000 homes and producing 165,000 tonnes of fertilizer in its first year.
