11 Former Rebels from Bohol Abandon Communist Movement in Oath-Taking Ceremony

On December 12, 11 former members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front took an oath to abandon the communist movement during a joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council in Bohol. The meeting was presided over by Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, who emphasized the importance of pursuing peaceful solutions to grievances.

The former rebels included three women and eight men from various municipalities in Bohol. The initiative was led by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict-Bohol Province, supported by multiple government agencies. The returnees will participate in a deradicalization program and other reintegration processes.
