U.S. Army Tests Next Generation Command and Control System at Fort Carson with Defense Contractors

DEFENSE

The U.S. Army is testing the Next Generation Command and Control (NG2C) system with private companies at Fort Carson, Colorado. This initiative, led by the 4th Infantry Division, aims to integrate data from the battlefield for instant access by commanders.

The system combines advanced software and hardware, leveraging artificial intelligence to manage extensive data securely. During the December testing, dubbed 'Ivy Sting 3', the division achieved 11 of 13 critical objectives, although some functionalities were not fully operational.

The Army's development approach involves collaboration with multiple defense contractors, including Anduril and Palantir, utilizing an open architecture for future upgrades. The NGC2 system is set to be tested in large-scale operations during the Army's Project Convergence Capstone in July 2026. This initiative represents a shift towards more agile, resource-informed procurement practices within the Army.
