2,700 Gallons of JP-8 Jet Fuel Spilled at Travis Air Force Base
DEFENSE
On December 10, about 2,700 gallons of JP-8 jet fuel spilled at Travis Air Force Base during a contractor's cleaning of a decommissioned 10-inch pipeline. Most of the fuel was contained within a catch basin, while approximately 15 gallons reached the soil.
The Solano County Environmental Health Division reported that the fuel from the basin was transferred to an on-base storage tank for proper disposal, and the contaminated soil was removed for disposal. The pipeline has been cleared for closure.
