82% of Households Experience Lower Electricity Bills in 2025 Under ERA Program

In 2025, the Equity Rate Adjustment (ERA) program led to 82% of households in the Bahamas seeing reduced electricity bills, with 44% paying at least 15% less. The program is expected to save consumers approximately $11.4 million annually, increasing to $92 million with the transition to liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Reliability improvements were noted, with outage frequency down 45% and duration reduced by 35%. The government is also advancing the National Energy Policy (NEP) to enhance energy production and distribution, aiming for increased renewable energy and modernized grid infrastructure.
