AFRY to Design District Heating Pipeline from Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant to Brno, Czechia
AFRY has been engaged by Teplárny Brno to provide engineering and design services for a district heating project in Czechia. This initiative aims to deliver CO₂-free heat to over 110,000 households and fulfill about 50% of the region's thermal energy demand.
The project will connect the Dukovany nuclear power plant to Brno and four other municipalities through a 42-kilometer hot water pipeline. The pipeline will replace existing natural gas and biomass heat sources with clean energy from the nuclear facility.
AFRY’s services will include documentation for building permits, contractor tendering, and site supervision during implementation. The design work is expected to be completed by August 2028, with a contract value of approximately 160 MSEK.
