Amaero Receives US Navy Support for PM-HIP Manufacturing Technology
Amaero Ltd has received a Letter of Support from the United States Department of the Navy affirming its powder metallurgy hot isostatic pressing (PM-HIP) technology as a viable alternative to traditional castings and forgings for the Maritime Industrial Base. This recognition follows an 18-month collaboration that demonstrated Amaero's technical capabilities in PM-HIP manufacturing, including advances in material behavior modeling and geometric precision.
The Navy classified PM-HIP as a mature process capable of addressing long lead times and capacity constraints in the supply chain. In a roundtable held on December 3, representatives from the Navy and the defense sector discussed the alignment and support for PM-HIP adoption amid increasing shipbuilding demands. The Navy's backing is seen as crucial for improving the resiliency and responsiveness of domestic manufacturing essential for national security.
