Argonne National Laboratory and Intel have launched a 12-qubit silicon quantum dot processor, showcasing the potential of standard semiconductor manufacturing for large-scale quantum computing. This collaboration, part of the Department of Energy's Q-NEXT initiative, combines Intel's manufacturing expertise with Argonne's open science experience, as they aim to develop larger quantum processors and study qubit interactions. Initial findings have been published in Nature Communications, alongside ongoing efforts related to the Aurora exascale supercomputer.
