SRV and CSC - IT Center for Science have signed an agreement to launch the implementation phase of the LUMI AI Factory data center project, with a target budget of approximately EUR 54 million. The project supports SRV's strategic goal of enhancing its position in cooperative contracting, particularly in public sector projects.

Construction will commence in January 2026, following preparatory work starting immediately; the data center is expected to begin operations in spring 2027. Located in Kajaani's Renforsin Ranta business park, the facility will utilize Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) for its shell.

The LUMI AI Factory will initially use the current LUMI supercomputer and will transition to the next-generation LUMI-AI supercomputer and an experimental quantum computing platform, LUMI-IQ. The project is part of a consortium including Finland, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Norway, and Poland, coordinated by CSC.
