Army Contracts Skydio for X10D Short-Range Reconnaissance Systems

DEFENSE

The U.S. Army has awarded Skydio Inc. a contract under the Short-Range Reconnaissance (SRR) program to procure X10D unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This contract is part of the Army's initiative to equip Transformation in Contact (TiC) units with reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition systems at the platoon level.

Initial fielding of the X10D began in April 2025, responding to an urgent operational requirement. The Army aims to scale delivery of advanced SRR systems to enhance combat effectiveness and operational flexibility. These systems are designed to improve soldiers' capabilities in modern battlefield scenarios, facilitating precise fires and supporting ground operations while addressing complex operational challenges.
