Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) is preparing to meet a projected peak demand of 3,150 MW by FY 2026-27, driven by a substantial rise in power consumption. To achieve this, APDCL has outlined both short-term and long-term power procurement strategies, including securing 200 MW of short-term power, 1,000 MW from pumped storage projects, and 3,200 MW from coal-based thermal sources, alongside an allocation of 278 MW from a long-term thermal power tender. These initiatives aim to ensure a reliable power supply to support Assam's growing energy needs.
