AstraZeneca and Future Biogas Launch UK's First Subsidy-Free Biomethane Plant

BIOFUELSNATURAL GASBIOPOWERCARBON CAPTURE

AstraZeneca and Future Biogas inaugurated the Moor Bioenergy plant in Lincolnshire to supply 100 GWh of renewable energy annually, covering 20% of AstraZeneca UK's gas consumption. The facility will provide clean heat for AstraZeneca's R&D and manufacturing, supporting sustainable drug production.

Operating 24/7, it will generate enough biomethane to heat over 8,000 homes annually. The plant features carbon capture technology to reuse or permanently sequester CO2. Raw materials will come from local farms, offering five-year contracts for financial stability and sustainability. The biomass will be ISCC certified.
