Baker Hughes Collaborates on Major Geothermal Project in California to Power Data Centers
GEOTHERMAL
Baker Hughes is partnering with Controlled Thermal Resources on a significant geothermal project in California's Salton Sea region, aimed at generating 500 MW of clean energy. This project, dubbed "Hell's Kitchen," will supply power to approximately 375,000 homes and is set to support the increasing energy demands of data centers. While geothermal energy currently contributes less than 0.5% of U.S. electricity, the collaboration reflects a growing trend among tech companies to embrace renewable energy sources amid the surge in artificial intelligence and data center operations.
