Baltimore City Schools Uses Evolv AI for Weapons Detection at Entrances

Baltimore City Public Schools has implemented the Evolv AI weapons detection system at 27 high school entrances under a $5.5 million, four-year contract. While the system processed 14,000 entries daily during a pilot program and detected one BB gun this year, concerns have been raised about its effectiveness and the decision not to utilize its facial recognition feature. Councilman Mark Conway questioned the value of the investment given these limitations.
