Recent improvements in port efficiency support a growing maritime trade, while the Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard are strengthening security against piracy and illegal fishing. A comprehensive maritime policy and the establishment of a Ministry of Maritime Affairs are proposed to improve resource management and promote sustainable development.
