The 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) allocates significant funding for Barksdale Air Force Base, as announced by Louisiana Senator Dr. Bill Cassidy. Key allocations include $116 million for the Weapons Generation Facility, $18 million for personnel housing, and $2.2 million for design work on a Child Development Center.
Additionally, $931 million is designated for the modernization of the B-52 bomber. The NDAA also aims to enhance collaboration between LSUHS, Barksdale, and Overton Brooks VA Medical Center through a Military-Civilian Medical Surge Program and includes provisions for the Air Force Global Strike Command and funding for Medium to Large Unmanned Surface Vessels. The act is pending President Trump's signature.
