Belize Military Leadership Transition: Captain Soberanis and Brigadier General Velasquez Appointed

On January 29th, Belize's military institutions underwent a change of command. Captain Gregory Soberanis took command of the Belize Coast Guard, succeeding Rear Admiral Elton Bennett, who now serves as CEO in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Brigadier General Anthony Velasquez succeeded Brigadier General Azariel Loria as head of the Belize Defense Force. Both ceremonies were attended by Prime Minister John Briceño and other senior government officials, emphasizing national security as a priority.
