Bevin Bros. Celebrates Nearly 200 Years of Bell Manufacturing in Connecticut
Bevin Bros., a bell manufacturer in East Hampton, Connecticut, has been in operation since 1832, producing sleigh bells, cowbells, and Christmas ornaments. The company, now in its sixth generation, manufactures approximately 600,000 sleigh bells, 30,000-40,000 cowbells, 100,000 Christmas bell ornaments, and 300 yacht bells annually.
The facility is the last dedicated bell factory in the U.S. and underwent significant changes, including a move after a fire in 2012. Currently, Bevin Bros. is modernizing its operations with state funding covering 30% of improvement costs.
The company is also launching a major digitalization initiative this month to enhance production efficiency. Notable clients include the Salvation Army and various train companies, including those offering 'Polar Express' rides. Bevin Bros. remains focused on growth and profitability, aiming to expand its workforce.
