Biliran Governor Rogelio Espina announced that no permits will be granted for the Biliran II Geothermal Project, citing threats to the ecosystem and local livelihoods. Despite reports of potential resumption, Espina confirmed that no permit applications have been received.

The project, now managed by a consortium including AG&P Industrial, Cresphil Inc., and Energy Stream Power Corp., has a potential output of 50 to 70 megawatts across an 11,178-hectare area. Any future geothermal activity will require strict evaluation and public consultation.
