Brazil Begins Construction of Final Tamandaré-Class Frigate F Mariz e Barros

DEFENSE

Brazil has initiated construction of the final Tamandaré-class frigate, F Mariz e Barros (F203), at TKMS Estaleiro Brasil Sul, with the keel expected to be laid in 2027 and commissioning planned for 2029. This frigate is part of a program that includes four light frigates awarded to the Águas Azuis consortium, with two others set for commissioning in 2027 and 2028. The first frigate, F Tamandaré (F200), is nearing completion of its trials.
