Brigadier-General Soyemi Sofoluwe, Former NYSC Director-General, Passes Away at Age 80

Brigadier-General Soyemi Sofoluwe, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and ex-Commandant of the Nigerian Military School (NMS) in Zaria, has died at the age of 80. He was born on January 14, 1945, and passed away on December 20, 2025, as announced by his family.

Sofoluwe was a senior officer in the Nigerian Army with decades of service in both operational and administrative roles. As Director-General of the NYSC, he significantly contributed to the scheme's operations and its goals of national unity and youth development.

Tributes have been paid by military colleagues and former corps members, recognizing his discipline and mentorship. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.
