British Army Deploys 3D Printed FPV Drones in Kenya Exercise
DEFENSE
The British Army successfully manufactured and deployed FPV attack drones during Exercise Bull Storm in Kenya, utilizing portable 3D printers. Soldiers produced five drones in a makeshift workshop, testing production viability under combat-like conditions.
The drones achieved speeds of 190mph with a range of 15 miles, replacing traditional artillery fire. The initiative received funding from the Innovation Fund and involved collaboration with the Edinburgh Drone Company. The Army is also increasing UAV pilot qualifications, with a notable rise in trained personnel after Operation Interflex.
