The British Army has launched Project NYX to develop an Apache-compatible autonomous drone, designed to act as a Loyal Wingman for the AH-64E attack helicopter. Collaborating with seven industry partners, the project aims to enhance the survivability of Apache forces through autonomous operations, with a focus on reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition. Initial Operational Capability is targeted for 2030, with design selections expected by March 2025, emphasizing British development to bolster national defense.
