Bulgaria Approves $205 Million NSM Coastal Missile Purchase from US to Enhance Black Sea Defense
DEFENSE
Bulgaria has approved a $205 million purchase of Norwegian-made Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) from the United States to enhance its Black Sea defense capabilities. This acquisition, part of a broader rearmament strategy to replace Soviet-era weapons with NATO-compatible systems by 2030, comes in response to security concerns heightened by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The investment includes contracts for both the missile systems and command and control infrastructure, with full implementation expected by the end of 2030.
