Canada House in Gillingham Remains Vacant Despite Redevelopment Plans for 21 Flats

DEFENSE

Canada House in Gillingham, a former Royal Navy hospital, has remained vacant and deteriorating since its sale in 2020 for £1.5 million, despite receiving planning permission for redevelopment into 21 flats in 2022. The developer, Risbridger Scott & Sons Ltd, has halted work, leading to safety concerns among local residents due to trespassing and the building's poor condition. Efforts by local authorities to contact the developer have gone unanswered, and the property was withdrawn from a planned auction in November 2025.
