The Cape Coral City Council has approved the 'Seven Islands' waterfront development, a mixed-use project that includes condos, apartments, restaurants, a marina, and a community center, after more than a decade of planning. While many residents support the development, concerns about traffic and infrastructure capacity have been raised, though Forest Development claims traffic studies indicate no negative impact.

Construction is expected to begin in over a year, pending the completion of environmental permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
