CAQM Enforces Stage IV GRAP in Delhi-NCR Amid Severe Air Quality Crisis
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR due to an Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 446, nearing 'severe plus' levels. This includes a ban on all construction and demolition activities, restrictions on truck entries, and a mandate for 50% of government and private office staff to work from home.
Only essential vehicles such as electric, CNG, LNG, and BS-VI diesel trucks are permitted entry. Schools will conduct classes in a hybrid mode for students up to Class XI, while strict dust-control measures will apply to ongoing public utility projects. The CAQM aims to mitigate pollution sources and protect public health as the region faces worsening air quality conditions.
