The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) has criticized Bangladesh's draft Energy and Power Sector Master Plan (2026-2050) for being developed without proper consultation, projecting a significantly lower electricity demand than the draft's estimate. CPD highlighted a dramatic increase in proposed LNG infrastructure investment and called for greater emphasis on renewable energy. They urged the interim government to delay finalizing the draft until after the upcoming elections, recommending that the newly elected government engage an independent panel for its preparation.
