Major General King was appointed CEO of Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand in January 2023, raising conflict of interest concerns. Greens Senator Shoebridge criticized the lack of a cooling-off period between his role in Defence overseeing contracts and his new position. Lt Gen Stuart stated that King did not influence Black Hawk helicopter acquisition decisions, and conflict of interest policies were followed, including King recusing himself from relevant projects for 12 months.
